The documentary ”Heroji u bijelom-od zakletve do herojstva” (“Heroes in White-From Oath to Heroism”), of the authors Esma Veladžić and Sanela Kapetanović, premiered yesterday night in Sarajevo.
Using the authentic documents and statements of live witnesses, a multitude of unknown details and facts about the heroic participation of doctors and other medical staff in the defense-liberation war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the 1992 to 1995 were presented in the movie.
Before the screening of the film, one of the producers of the film-the wartime commander of the First Corps of the Army of B&H Nedžad Ajnadžić-said that it represents a medal to each surviving “hero in white” who had a significant role in the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo Ismet Gavrankapetanović said that the film is a great testimony, not only for Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for the medicine in general.
He pointed out that the film was also a call for the establishment of zero tolerance towards the hate speech in B&H, because it was the one leading to the pain and blood shown in the film. As a special guest, the journalist, former spokesperson of the Hague Tribunal and an honorary citizen of Sarajevo Florence Hartmann also attended the premiere.
Along with Ajnadžić, the film was produced by Omar Edo Hadrović.
