The Deputy BiH Minister for Security Mladen Ćavar met yesterday in Sarajevo with the Head of the International Organization for Migration (ION) in BiH Gianluco Rocco.

The reason for the meeting was preparations for activities to hold open discussion on the topic “Position of BiH in Illegal Migration in the Region”, which will be held on 25 March in the BiH institutions building in Sarajevo. The BiH Ministry of Security in cooperation with IOM is organizing it.

Rocco presented to Ćavar a feasibility study that would be a part of the presentation at the scheduled event.

The study on the regional level is based on five main areas, which are: return and readmission, identification of illegal migrants, facilities for reception, exchange of information and translation-linguistic analysis.

The IOM thinks that the first presentation of the feasibility study should be held in Sarajevo due to the role of BiH in the process of solving problems of illegal migration. The study would provide the EU with information that is necessary to start projects tied to illegal migration.

Ćavar expressed his gratitude for all projects that the IOM has realized in BiH until now, as well as projects that would be implemented soon, announced the Office of the Deputy Minister for Security of BiH.
