President of the FBiH on the necessary Reforms

cavaraThe President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marinko Čavara told reporters that there is a lot of work to be done by the newly appointed FBiH Government, but he believes that the new team will take some time to adjust to the tasks and that it will make a positive step forward in connection to the European Union and friendly countries, primarily regarding necessary social and economic reforms.

“Reforms are necessary. I keep advocating it before international representatives: help us gain the trust of all of those who will be affected by the reforms because it cannot be expected of someone to accept big cuts, a serious operation without the knowledge that they will get healthy. We have to create an economic situation in the country, a system that will function for everyone’s benefit and then, if it is necessary, to draw a conclusive move which is painful but having the knowledge that it will get better. I do not believe we can make it any other way. We cannot succeed in this without help since we have a difficult, very complicated and we need reforms to build a better future of this country,” said Čavara.

When asked what would be those painful steps, which could possibly follow, he replied that this refers to enterprises which haven’t paid salaries to workers for 15-20 months.

“This situation must be resolved, the enterprise cannot exist if the company is unable to meet their commitments and obligations to workers. If they are in this stage it should declare bankruptcy or get otherwise resolved. It is normal for people (workers) to demand their rights and it is unacceptable to do so on the street, as if seeking alms,” emphasizes the newly appointed President of the Federation.
