The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, met yesterday with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani. During his address at the press conference, Milanovic fiercely criticized the European Commission, mentioned the First World War, and compared Vucic‘s address after the attack on Kosovo policemen to a “dramatic treatment of a classical Greek tragedy”. He demanded answers, criticized Josep Borrell, saying that he, as a Spaniard, could not be objective about Kosovo because his country did not recognize Kosovo. Everything was brought by the connection with Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“Milanovic – voice of Kosovo”
“Croatia is doing everything to support the Euro-Atlantic integration of the entire region. President Milanovic was very vocal in all international forums in support of Kosovo and I want to thank you once again on behalf of the people and institutions of Kosovo because Kosovo does not yet have a presence in those organizations. But we could always count on the voice of President Milanovic and through him our voice was heard at those international forums. I hope that with the support of Croatia, the Croatian people and its president, we will soon be able to sit at those forums,” said Osmani.
“It would be good if others would also drink something to clear their throats and say such things because it doesn’t cost them anything, or maybe it does. I was the only one in the United Nations (UN) Assembly, besides the President of Albania, who mentioned Kosovo, but not in the context of a troublemaker, but that Kosovo should be recognized. Just as I often show understanding for some attitudes of Serbian politicians and leadership in BiH. I try to look at things rationally and eventually in Croatian interest, but I said that we are somewhat subjective regarding Kosovo. You now have NATO in Kosovo, we didn’t have NATO in 1991. We had insurgents, terrorists and murderers supported by military force of kinetic destructive power to be applied to Ukraine today. It was an impossible situation, we fought for ourselves in a difficult and expensive way, you fight in your own way, you have our support”, said Milanovic.
“Vucic needs to give answers”
When it comes to the attack in Kosovo, he said that he watched the conference of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic from Mississippi, which, as he says, “had a dramatic treatment of a classic Greek tragedy.”
He said that he is an opponent of sanctions against entire countries, and that he would perhaps support sanctions against individuals. He added that “Kosovo is under some sanctions.”
“Sanctions were brought by Borrell, who I hope is retiring soon, with his team and they are threatening that we should not meet with the representatives of Kosovo at high levels. That’s how they see the solution to the problem. I know a lot of Spaniards and people have their own attitudes and views, but that country did not recognize Kosovo and how can we expect objectivity from a Spaniard. That’s nonsense. People do it all over the region and BiH. Borell wrote a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, in which he stated a whole series of inaccuracies and knowingly accepted lies, that Croatia has no rights. So what, we should be quiet about it? That one should not talk about their frauds and dishonest actions? Those who have not heard that the European Commission has measures against Kosovo, I urge them to violate them,” Milanovic stressed.
