damir imamovićFive young voices and two guitar players will on Thursday, 30 May, in Sarajevo War Theatre offer citizens of Sarajevo a night of sevdah, reports klix.ba

The organisers claim that this art form is entering yet another phase of existence and Tarik Hukičević, Leila Ćatić, Jusuf Brkić, Ermin Čalkić, Fatmir Sulejmani, Mejdi Sulejmani and Emir Efendić will show the audience what they’ve learned about sevdah during this project with their older collegues.

The project was created by Sarajevo War Theatre in cooperation with Mediacentar and according to manager of Sarajevo War Theatre Nihad Kreševljaković, the idea was to reopen the music scene of that theatre and give a chance to young performers to promote themselves.

One of the most renowned sevdah artists Damir Imamović has dedicated himself to teach young people about sevdah, and said that there are many people living in BiH who are very talented and who sing sevdalinka beautifully and noted that those people should play sevdah in chamber environment so that their talent can be fully seen.

Workshops of ‘Sevdah pogon’ are being taught by Imamović, Kreševljaković and Ahmed Burić and other artist will join too.
