Ramo Isak, Federal Minister of the Interior, and members of his family own two companies and 15 properties in Zenica and Sarajevo. More than half of the properties were bought in the past six years.

Along with the progress of his political career, Ramo Isak, the federal minister of the interior, was also accompanied by his property progress. Since joining politics in 2006, Isak and his family have acquired at least 10 properties and a company. Besides, they have four cars and cash. All of that is estimated at more than 18 million BAM.

He inherited the property in Lukovo Polje in the suburbs of Zenica, on which there are three houses today, from his father in 2008, when he was a representative in the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament. In one of those houses is the headquarters of the Agency for Physical and Technical Protection of People and Property “Condor” of his wife Amela.

After the end of the parliamentary mandate in 2010, Isak reported that he and his wife have land in Bugojno, an apartment, business premises, BMW and Toyota cars, and cash, all worth 1.3 million BAM.

Twelve years later, the reported assets of the Isak family are 17 million BAM higher. The inherited estate with houses was also valued this time at 600,000 BAM, and the land at 30,000 BAM. Isak reported that his wife has: a house, an apartment, two business premises and garages, a warehouse and land, with a total value of 4.45 million BAM, and two companies that he estimated at 10.5 million BAM. He also stated that his sons have three houses and an apartment, worth 1.38 million BAM.

Minister’s property and political progress

In the early 2000s, Ramo Isak lost his job in the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the ZDCbecause he fired three bullets from his official pistol at his friend’s wedding in front of the then administrative headquarters in Zenica.

He entered politics in 2006 when, as a member of the Patriotic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina – BiH (BPS), he ran for a representative in the ZDC Assembly. This enabled him to hold a parallel position as a delegate in the Parliament of the Federation of BiH (FBiH).

Preparing for the 2012 local elections, Isak founded the Party for the People of BiH and entered the Zenica Municipal Council with it. At the same time, he runs a private business in his wife’s agency, performing the job of head of the Security Department. He later united the party with the Party of Democratic Activity (A-SDA) and as its member won another mandate in the ZDCAssembly and the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament in 2018. The A-SDA later changed its name to the People’s European Union (NES).

His sons also got involved in politics in the meantime. In 2019, Arnel was appointed Minister of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of the ZDC and in the 2022 elections he got a position in the Federal Parliament. In 2020, the second son, Rusmir, was elected to the Zenica City Council, and in 2023, he was appointed director of the Zenica Penitentiary.

Apart from the inherited property with houses and land, all other properties of the Isak family are owned by his wife and sons. Amela Isak has: a house in the center of Zenica worth one million BAM, two business premises and garages worth 1.45 million BAM, a hall and land in Zenica worth 1.7 million BAMand an apartment in Novo Sarajevo worth 300,000 BAM. She bought all these properties from 2019 to 2021, except for a 64-square-meter office space in the center of Zenica, which she has owned since 2006, CIN reports.
