Households affected by the devastating floods of 2024 can now apply for assistance in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged homes through a Public Call launched today under the ‘EU Support to Floods Recovery in BiH’ project.

The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with local authorities. It represents a key component of the €20 million recovery package announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 2024.

‘The European Union stood firmly with the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina with immediate emergency assistance following the catastrophic floods and landslides in October 2024, and remains a committed partner for the ongoing recovery in affected areas. The Public Call we are launching today is a crucial step in ensuring that those affected receive the support they need to rebuild their homes and their lives. The assistance will provide housing solutions and economic recovery support through the reconstruction of homes, key public services and infrastructure, prioritising the most vulnerable. Through this process, with our partners, we are committed to a fair, transparent, and efficient recovery’, said the Head of EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Luigi Soreca.

Who Can Apply?

The Public Call is open until 11 March 2025 for affected households in the following municipalities and cities: Drvar, Jablanica, Konjic, Kreševo, Kiseljak, Fojnica, Vareš, and Mostar.

Eligible applicants include homeowners whose houses or apartments were destroyed or severely damaged by the floods, rendering them unsafe for living. The selection process will be based on transparent criteria, prioritizing the most vulnerable, including households with low income, single-parent families, elderly citizens, and persons with disabilities.

How to Apply?

Application forms and guidelines are available at offices of participating municipalities and cities, their websites, as well as the websites of UNDP BiH (www.ba.undp.org) and IOM BiH (https://bih.iom.int). Applications must be submitted at the respective municipal offices before the deadline.
