A meeting of the Operational Group for Coordination and Management of the Migrant Crisis was held in Bihac. Despite the fact that this body did not sit for several months because the situation was calm, the recent events and clashes of migrants with firearms in which one person was killed provoked a reaction from the authorities of Una-Sana Canton (USC).
The conclusion of the Operational Group is to demand the closure of the Miral center in Velika Kladusa and the Borici center in Bihac, the transfer of migrants residing in the city to the Lipa center, where only one–fifth of the capacity is filled. The meeting also reconstructed the event from Friday, ie the shooting with a fatal outcome.
”It is presumed that the migrants got firearms through illegal trade or stole them during a burglary, ” mentioned the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Canton, Nermin Kljajic. After shooting, murder, and serious wounds, they fled to Sarajevo, where they were arrested.
In less than a month, three shootings took place in Bihac, where one person was killed, one seriously injured, and three got minor wounds. Weapons were also found with the arrested migrants, for which it has yet to be determined whether they were used in all the clashes. Unofficially, the caliber is the same. The mayor of Bihac, Suhret Fazlic, is indignant:
“I do not want to discuss jurisdiction, what is whose jurisdiction. I do not want to discuss the mutual accusations of the police agencies, I do not want to discuss whether some people should have been deported when we know very well from the past four years that it is impossible to deport them. “
“Both the greatest exposure and the greatest engagement was on the part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and our police. It is extremely incorrect for the mayor to point a finger at the USCpolice, “ told Mustafa Ruznic, Prime Minister of the USC (NES).
What all the participants in the meeting agree on is that the police did a good job and arrested the suspects for the last event in Bihac in record time. They disagree about much more things, such as how to act in situations like this. There is a different government at the city and cantonal level, it is an election year, and tensions and political skirmishes cannot be left aside even in such situations.
