Reduction of previously increased Prices recorded in BiH

Federal market inspectors have recorded a significant number of cases of reduction in previously increased prices in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs (FUZIP) said, warning that there is still a large percentage of businesses with irregularities.

Elmir Ramic, the chief federal market inspector by authorization, stated that 12 federal market, tourism, and catering inspectors have been focused on controlling gas stations since the beginning of March, according to requests and information from the Federal Ministry of Trade on fuel prices increase and consumer complaints.

Also, federal market inspectors continuously control the formation of prices of basic foodstuffs and other products from the list of 17 products covered by the FBiH Government Decision.

Although there is still a large percentage of businesses with irregularities (57 percent), inspectors also record a significant number of cases of declining previously increased prices. Apart from the global increase in prices of raw materials and imported products, the increase in prices and shortages in FBiH are influenced, unfortunately, by excessive demand due to the fear of citizens from shortages and price increases, which is why we appeal to the citizens not to accumulate stocks and in that way contribute to the stabilization of the market,” Ramic stressed.

In the intensified inspections regarding the formation of prices and margins in accordance with the decisions of the FBiH Government, the Federal Market Inspectorate of the FUZIP has implemented 184 inspections since the beginning of 2022, which identified 105 irregularities, including 206 misdemeanor warrants in the amount of 230.350 BAM.

Due to the identified irregularities, 13.000 liters of diesel were put out of the market and confiscated from one trader of petroleum products. Also, federal inspectors carried out 88 control inspections for the purpose of monitoring and maintaining the situation in accordance with the measures prescribed by the decisions of the FBiH Government.

Taking into account the limited number of federal inspectors who are continuously present throughout the FBiH, the FUZIPalso turned to the cantonal inspection bodies for support.

According to the sublimated results of federal and cantonal inspections in the FBiH, from the beginning of 2022 to March 20th, 2022, 467 inspections were performed, within which irregularities were identified, which means issuing 298 misdemeanor orders with a total cost of 286.700 BAM.
