zeljka_cvijanovic_280213According to the entity Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic, the natural disaster which hit Bosnia-Herzegovina in May, affected about 40 percent of the territory of the Republic of Srpska. In addition, it is estimated that about 58 percent of the population has been exposed to or the experienced the consequences of floods.

Rough preliminary estimates indicate that the damage is of enormous proportions, which suggests a figure of 1.3 billion BAM. However, some However predictions say that the damages will be even higher, as much as 1.6 billion BAM.

She added that during the floods, more than 35 000 people were evacuated and that, unfortunately, floods took away human lives as well. Human life is, she added, the only loss that cannot be compensated.

“Everything else can be compensated, and we will work on it. Damages on property will be gradually restored” – Cvijanovic said in a speech to parliament of RS whose deputies discussed a set of measures on the special session.

“For this reason, our measures are grouped into several areas, namely in economic, social, humanitarian, infrastructure and the like, and there are about 60 of the areas” – Cvijanovic said in a speech to lawmakers.
