Republika Srpska to give up on the Referendum?!

cvijanovicThe Prime Minister of RS, Zeljka Cvijanovic, said that when it comes to decisions of the Court of BiH currently in force, that it was misunderstood, since it never ordered the abolition of the Day of RS but it just requested adjustment of the holiday.

Leadership of the RS revised their exclusive position that a referendum on the Day of RS must be held on the 25th of September.

“Adjustment can be done through a change in the law on public holidays. But not in the way that we give up on the holiday but in the way to abolish the obligation for all those who cannot identify themselves with this holiday, and we are on the way to reach this decision,” added Cvijanovic.

Milorad Dodik explained that the leadership of the RS fears that the attack on the 9th of January is the announcement of “farce” next year when will be requested the abolition of the title of Republika Srpska.

“The attack on it and the Day of RS is an attack on the foundations of our freedom,” said Dodik.

There is an impression that Dodik is no longer exclusive on holding the referendum, as he was in the past month.

On this, apparently, a decisive influence had a two-day visit of the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and EU Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, to Belgrade.

His attitude is known, when it comes to a referendum on the Day of RS, that decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH must be respected. Commissioner Hahn reiterated this during conversation with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

After the session of the Serbian government, which was attended by Johannes Hahn, Vucic said that Serbia will act responsibly when it comes to the region, and will know to protect its national and state interests and that Serbia’s strategic goal is EU membership.
