Results of Local Elections in BiH to be finalized by Monday?

cik2-1-696x456Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will publish the final results of local elections in BiH by Monday, October 17, after which a deadline will be given to political entities for submission of requests for a recount of votes at certain polling places.

Processing of ballots that arrived via mail, from absence, via mobile teams, diplomatic-consular representative offices and votes from voters who voted on unconfirmed ballots is planned to be completed by Friday afternoon.

After that, the data will be revised and it is possible that the CIK BiH publishes the results of local elections in BiH on Saturday, October 15, but certainly no later than Monday, October 17.

Votes were recounted yesterday at 13 polling places in the municipalities of Centar, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Pelagićevo, Banja Luka and in District Brčko, and the counting of remaining votes that arrived by mail started last night.

“Another five or six thousand votes that arrived by mail are yet to be processed,” confirmed the spokeswoman of the CIK BiH Maksida Pirić.

Apart from the fate of the election results in Srebrenica, the CIK BiH must also make a decision on the fate of local elections in Stolac, which were discontinued on October 2, after a series of incidents.

Earlier this week, the CIK BiH did not reach a consensus about the inclusion of the decision on the discontinuation of local elections in Stolac due to disagreement of Serb and Croat members, so the decision will be reached afterwards.

It remains to be seen how many unconfirmed ballots will be confirmed.
