How does RS intend to respect the Decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH?

vlada rsRepublika Srpska intends to respect the decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH in a way that they will change the title of the Law on Holidays in the RS.

“That is one and the likeliest option, although some other solutions might arise during discussion in the assembly. However, according to the current options, there would be no Law on Holidays, but the Law on Holidays and Celebrations in the RS. That would be a way to respect the decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH and January 9 would still be the Day of Republika Srpska. The Government will forward the proposal of legal amendments to the assembly procedure after the referendum, after September 25,” said a source close to the ruling structures.

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, who does not want to go public with the details yet, said that legal amendments will enable those who do not want to celebrate the Day of Republika Srpska the possibility of not celebrating it.

“The decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH does not mention anything about the abolition of January 9, but they only demand an adjustment. The adjustment is related to the appeal from Bosniaks and their non-acceptance of the marking of this holiday. In the RS there is a consent about the fact that if Bosniaks do not want to celebrate January 9 as the Day of RS they do not have to, just like we never celebrate the March 1, Independence Day of BiH,” Dodik stated earlier.
