Rubio: Trump considering Withdrawing from Ukraine Peace Talks

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if it is not possible to end the war in Ukraine, the United States should abandon its efforts and move on. “If it is not possible to end the war in Ukraine, we have to move on,” he told reporters before departing Paris.

“This is not our war. We did not start it. The United States has been helping Ukraine for three years and we want the war to end, but this is not our war,” Rubio said.

“President Donald Trump has been making continuous efforts at the highest level of government for 87 days to end this war. Now we are coming to a point where we have to decide and determine whether that is even possible. That is why we are talking to both sides,” he added.

“We have to determine very quickly, within a few days, whether a peace agreement is feasible in the short term, because if it is not, I think we will simply move on,” Rubio said.

“We are not going to continue this effort for weeks and months without end,” he added.

The top American diplomat emphasized that Trump still wants to work towards achieving peace, but that the United States of America has numerous other priorities around the world.

“We have to decide very quickly, and I’m talking about the issue of the day, whether it’s possible to reach an agreement in the next few weeks. If so, we’re in favor. If not, we’ll have to focus on other priorities,” Rubio said.

Donald Trump said yesterday that he thinks a ceasefire is “close” and that Moscow should soon respond to the recent American proposal.
