Genjga came in Rudo two years ago, and with him the Majlis got imam again for the first time after 20 years. He was born in Travnik and he eventually got used to the local customs. He is waiting for Eid with others, agreeing on kurbans and helping each other.

That is the reason why Rudo is standing out as an example of coexistence and good relations between Muslims and Orthodox Christians.
“Majlis of IC Rudo and its leaders made an outstanding collaboration and relationship with the Orthodox Christians, since the war from 1,992 – 1,995 almost completely destroyed them. Life has never been easy here, nor the reconstruction of buildings or relationships, but there are some and they serve as a lesson to many people.
“We are not taught to hate anyone, Islam is a religion of peace. As the great Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic, who was also from Rudo, was not raised as a fratricide in Istanbul, as some want to present him, lead by the practice of the Prophet p.b.u.h. upon his arrival in Bosnia, he built a mosque in his hometown Sokolovici, as well as the church for his mother who was not a Muslim. Residents are hoping that the story of the reconstruction of mekteb school from this small Bosnian town on the border with Serbia will bring people and hope for a better life back, and stop people from going away.
