Russia has imposed Sanctions on 18 British Citizens, including PM

Russia has imposed sanctions on 18 British citizens, including the British Prime Minister’s special envoy for the Western Balkans, Stuart Peach, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

As they stated, the decision to sanction figures from the military-political establishment and the scientific and academic community of Great Britain was made “as a response to London’s constant confrontational course, within which efforts are made to demonize Russia, and anti-Russian narratives are actively fabricated as would reduce Moscow’s influence on the international arena”.

Sanctions were imposed against Deputy Defense Secretary James Cartledge, Deputy National Security Adviser Sarah McIntosh and Commander of the Submarine Forces Simon Ashkit.

“We are forced to state that Russophobic British representatives do not hesitate to try to discredit the constitutional system and socio-political processes in Russia,” the Ministry announced.

Stuart Peach, the British Prime Minister’s special envoy for the Western Balkans, as well as Lords Dan Hannan and Michael Ashcroft were also sanctioned.

Among those sanctioned are historians Orlando Figes, Norman Davis, Timothy Garton Ash, Rob Johnson, David Abulafia and experts Roy Allison from Oxford, Graham Robertson from the University of North Carolina, Calder Walton from Harvard and James Sher from the International Center for Defense and Security in Tallinn.
