After the Israeli army carried out an attack in southern Beirut, representatives from Hamas, Yemeni Houthis, Iran, and the Russian Federation promptly responded.

Moscow: In a stern statement, the Russian government condemned the Israeli action, calling it a “dangerous escalation” that threatens regional stability. The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Israel to cease its military operations immediately and called for international mediation to prevent further conflict.

“We strongly oppose any actions that exacerbate tensions and lead to the loss of civilian lives,” the statement read. Russia also reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution and called for renewed efforts towards peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

Hamas: The militant group Hamas has vowed swift and severe retaliation for the Israeli attack. In a fiery address, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum declared,

“The Israeli enemy will pay a heavy price for its aggression. Our resistance fighters are ready to defend our people and our land.” Hamas also called on Palestinians to unite and intensify their resistance against Israel, urging other Arab and Muslim nations to support their cause.

Houthis: The Houthi movement in Yemen also reacted strongly, expressing solidarity with Hamas and condemning Israel’s actions. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, a spokesman for the Houthis, stated, “We stand with our Palestinian brothers in their struggle against the Zionist regime. The Houthis will not remain silent in the face of such blatant aggression.” Abdul-Salam hinted at possible Houthi responses, including increased attacks against Israeli interests in the region.

The Israeli government has justified its actions as necessary measures to protect its citizens from ongoing threats posed by militant groups. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the country’s right to defend itself, stating, “We will take all necessary steps to ensure the security of our nation and our people.”

The international community remains deeply concerned about the potential for further violence and instability. The United Nations and various world leaders have called for restraint and urged all parties to return to the negotiating table to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
