In the first ten months of this year, Sarajevo Canton achieved a foreign trade deficit of as much as 4.1 billion BAM.

This means that, when the data for the last two months are included, the deficit amounted to about 5 billion BAM, reports BiznisInfo.ba.

This canton has by far the largest deficit in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the lowest percentage of coverage of imports by exports – of only 26.7 percent.

This is understandable because most of the large distributors that sell goods throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina are registered in Sarajevo.

The total trade deficit of the FBiH for ten months in 2023 was about 7.1 billion BAM, and the coverage of imports by exports was 57 percent.

Only three cantons had a positive exchange ratio, namely Una-Sana (117.3 percent), Bosanskopodrinjski (184.3 percent) and Posavina (116.9 percent).
