maxresdefaultUntil now, the BiH stars attracted tourists to some foreign cities, but as of this year the situation is different; stated the spokeswoman of the Tourist Borad of the Sarajevo Canton Asja Hadžiefendić-Mešić.

The City of Sarajevo agreed on cooperation with the greatest music star in BiH, Dino Merlin, who will have a concert for New Year 2017.

Speaking of Dino Merlin’s concert, Hadžiefendić-Mešić said that Dino is expected to create magic.

“Until now our stars brought tourists to some other cities. The concert of Dino Merlin caused great attention in the region and within seven days after the announcement of the concert the accommodation capacities increased by 15 percent. In the coming days we expect even greater increase in the number of tourists so the data on the number of arrivals will be more complete,” said Hadžiefendić-Mešić.

Hadžiefendić-Mešić claims that tourism must be the backbone of all business branches in Sarajevo. The capital of BiH attracts tourists throughout the year. The majority of them come from Turkey and Croatia. The number of tourists from Arab countries is evidently increasing.

Speaking of the tourist offer of Sarajevo, Hadžiefendić-Mešić revealed that the city center attracts the most tourists.

“The magical circle between religious facilities is what Sarajevo is known for. I would say than 95 percent of tourists come to visit that part of the city. Lovers of culture visit the museums of Sarajevo. Those who are more into history visit the Tunnel of Hope, which is the greatest attraction left from the war. Then there are natural attractions, from the Bosna Springs to Trebević, Bjelašnica, Igman and many others,” said Hadžiefendić-Mešić.

The greatest concern of foreign tourists is the degree of safety. However, since 1997 there has not been a single serious incident.

“Tourists do not expect much when they come here, but they get a lot and they leave with positive impressions. We have not paid a single foreign journalist to write a positive critique and we see that in foreign magazines and newspapers Sarajevo gets only positive reviews,” Hadžiefendić-Mešić said.
