“Day by day we are working to strengthen our police force because a strong police force guarantees the safety of our citizens,” Minister Katica said and clarified what type of equipment will be procured.

“The police department of the MoI of the Sarajevo Canton is starting to procure new radar systems with photo registration, with the aim of reducing the volume of violations of traffic regulations and the number of traffic accidents, especially with the most serious consequences. As we have already announced, these radars will be installed along the main road, from Ilidža to Baščaršija. They will be multifunctional, with the possibility of reading and analyzing vehicle registration plates. New radars will be placed in visible places, with a preventive character – said Minister Katica 1.5 million BAM will be spent on radar systems.”

Speaking about the procurement of new special armored vehicles, Minister Katica clarified that it is a continuation of the project of procurement of special combat armored vehicles (armored vehicle). This will contribute to improving the efficiency, mobility and professionalism of police officers.

“In 2023, we concluded a contract for the procurement of three special armored vehicles, and the delivery is expected very soon, and initiated the procurement of two more. This year, we planned the procurement of two more special armored vehicles, which would ultimately strengthen the police force with seven armored vehicles. vehicles,” explained Katica.

The acquisition of armored vehicles will further increase the safety of the citizens of the Sarajevo Canton and the efficiency of the police officers of the Police Department of the MoI of the Sarajevo Canton in the field, reduce the number of violent and disruptive public gatherings, prevent damage and destruction of citizens’ property, reduce the number of engaged police officers and thus justify the investment of 2.7 million BAM.

“The police administration of the CS MoI has also prepared project documentation for the project ‘Procurement of equipment for the implementation of the elaboration of the system for the verification and acquisition of license plates (SPARTA)-II’. This system will be expanded to another 20 new locations. Until now, the priority has been coverage with video surveillance of entrances and exits from Sarajevo Canton, and the gradual expansion of the system to access roads and priority locations. Therefore, for 2024, it is planned to focus on alternative approaches, the interior of the city and the installation of analytical cameras on city roads and in city settlements, all for the purpose of prevention and reduction of crime and traffic accidents. The value of the project is 700,000 BAM”, announced the Cabinet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.
