Schmidt will impose changes to the Electoral Law Himself if the Parliament does not do it

Schmidt himself will impose changes to the Electoral Law if this does not happen soon in the Parliamentary Assembly, the high representative in our country said today during a public address.

“I have respect for the decisions made by the parliament and that is why I am saying that this is my last call to the parliamentary structure to make a decision on its own. If not, I will come to the deadlines and I will consider this disrespect to the voters,” said Schmidt.

He added that the deadline for that is short.

“I will appeal to all political parties to strengthen the integrity of the election process. I would like the local authorities to find solutions, but that must happen now, not in the next month, year. In the next two or three weeks, everyone would like to see the result. If by he doesn’t come, then we can’t depend on some promises of ‘next week (will be), next week (will be)’. No! This week it has to be done and if it’s not done, everyone knows there’s one person in town who has that authority and authorize him to bring it,” he said.

This, he says, is the strengthening of democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not a criticism of the work of the parliament.

He emphasized that in this part of the amendments to the Electoral Law, we are talking about nothing but the integrity of the electoral process and technical changes.

“I’m talking about integrity here, and I know there are a lot of other issues as well. Let me mention the election of members of the BiH Presidency. I’m not talking about that today, because I don’t want to connect those things, now it’s about the integrity of the election, the legal basis for new technologies must be prepare,” said the High Representative.
