High Representative Christian Schmidt met today at Camp Butmir with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss the political and security challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“NATO Secretary General Rutte’s visit is an important indication that Bosnia and Herzegovina and its institutions remain a priority for the international community. The High Representative thanked Secretary General Rutte for reaffirming today that NATO, together with the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is ready to support and take the necessary steps to ensure the prosperity and progress of BiH and its citizens,” the OHR said.

The High Representative also stressed that “attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on the functionality of its institutions, are a red line that must not be crossed. This is essential for maintaining the stability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
