The family of Michael Schumacher, the legendary Formula 1 driver, issued a statement following the recent verdict in an extortion case. Although the family rarely speaks out in public, this time they could not remain silent about their outrage at the court’s decision, which they believe imposed too lenient a sentence on one of the accused.

However, the recent verdict in the attempted extortion case involving private recordings and photographs of the legendary Formula 1 driver forced them to address the media and the public.
Namely, the court ruled that Schumacher’s former bodyguard, Markus Fritsche, would receive only a two-year suspended sentence for attempted extortion.
This verdict was met with sharp criticism from the family, who believe that the punishment does not match the severity of the crime.
“We have filed an appeal because we believe the sentence for Mr. F. was too lenient. In my opinion, he was the mastermind behind this operation. What still shocks me the most is the massive betrayal of trust,” Corinna said in a statement.
What sentences did the blackmailers receive?
Yilmaz T. (53) was sentenced to three years in prison for threatening to publish private information about Schumacher and his family unless he received 15 million euros.
His son, 30-year-old Daniel L., was sentenced to six months in prison for being an accomplice in the case.
Among the information the blackmailers planned to release were 900 photographs, 583 video recordings, and the complete medical documentation of the famous driver.
The father, who worked as a bouncer at a nightclub in Konstanz, admitted guilt in court and expressed remorse for his actions.
Additionally, Markus F. was sentenced to two years in prison for selling those photographs to the mentioned individuals for a five-figure sum, and it was precisely his sentence that led the legendary driver’s family to file an appeal.
