The President of the Main Board of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Jasmina Tokić-Biščević, sent an open letter to the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, regarding attacks, threats and pressures on Bosniak returnees in the RS entity. A letter with the same content was delivered to the embassies of member countries of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC).
“In my capacity as president of the SDA Main Board, I would like to inform you about the conclusion adopted by the Main Board at the eighth regular session held on Friday, September 1, 2023, which refers to continuous attacks, threats and pressure on Bosniak returnees in the RS entity,” states Tokić-Biščević in a letter addressed to the high representative.
At the same time, she informs him that the Main Board of the SDA provided full support to the demands of the Association of Victims of the Aggression in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which require the High Representative to ensure, in accordance with the mandate, the implementation of the Constitution of the RS entity and the adoption of appropriate decisions with the aim of enabling an increase in the number of Bosniaks and Croats in police structures. entity of the RS, as well as that in areas where the number of returnees is significant, leadership positions in local police structures should be members of the Bosniak and/or Croat people.
“ I remind you of Article 97 of the Constitution of the RS entity, which states that the constituent nations and Others will be proportionally represented in public institutions in the RS entity, and that this proportional representation will be based on the 1991 census. According to the results of the 1991 population census, 29 percent of Bosniaks and nine percent of Croats lived in the territory of the RS entity, and currently only 4.7 percent of Bosniaks and 0.9 percent of Croats are employed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS, which is inadmissible,” the letter states.
In this regard, as the letter further states, the Main Board of the SDA invited the High Representative to use his powers prescribed by Article V of Annex 10 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Conclusions of the Bonn Peace Implementation Council of 9 on December 10, 1997, and to urgently adopt measures that will improve the status and security of Bosniaks and Croats in the RS entity.
“I emphasize once again that the Main Board of the SDA fully supports the demands of the Association of Victims of the Aggression in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we expect you to act in accordance with the interests of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the stabilization of the socio-political situation and the improvement of the security of citizens, especially the returnee population. with those demands,” said the president of GO SDA Jasmina Bišćević-Tokić in an open letter addressed to the high representative Christian Schmidt, Fena reports.
