Second Day of the Brdo-Brijuni Process: Regional Leaders on international Cooperation

13287960_1193294344054853_55825249_oPresidency of BiH is the host of this year’s regional summit of the Brdo-Brijuni process. Leaders of countries in the region yesterday participated in the presidential panel within the Summit of 100 business leaders of southeastern Europe. Thus, the plenary meeting of leaders of the process Brdo-Brijuni will be held today.

The process Brdo-Brijuni was launched in 2013 by Slovenia and Croatia in order to stabilize the situation in the southeast of Europe with regional cooperation and solving of the opened issues.

In addition to leaders of these two countries, other participants in the Brdo-Brijuni process are leaders of BiH, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo.

First meeting was held in July 2013 on the Hill near Kranj, when the honorable guest was the French President Francois Hollande. One year later, the meeting was held in Dubrovnik, and the guest was the German chancellor Angela Merkel. The third meeting was held in June 2015 in Budva, while the fourth meeting was held in late November in Zagreb. As honorable guests, the meeting in Zagreb was attended by the US Vice-President Joe Biden, President of the European Coucil Donald Tusk and the Austrian President Heinz Fischer.

Honorable guest of this year’s Brdo-Brijuni process is the President of Italy, Sergio Matarella.

Working panel of regional leaders will be held today and they will discuss the strengthening of dialogue in the region, mutual support, economic cooperation and open issues between the regional countries.

General assessment is that such meetings are the best was to solve numerous problems and launch cooperation which will enable a better position for the Western Balkans on the global scene.
