airportConsidering the evident increase in the number of passengers from the International Airport Tuzla – there was a need to expand the space capacity.

In the upcoming period, the implementation of three projects of multimillion value will begin, which are related to the reconstruction and expansion of the passenger terminal of the International Airport Tuzla, building of the Border Police of BiH and building of the ITA BiH.

By the end of this year, it is expected that 305.000 passengers will pass through the Tuzla Airport, and for 2017, according to current plans, it is envisaged that services will be used by between 500 and 600 thousand passengers.

“We want, in one peak hour, to be able to serve 400 passengers which are departing and the same number of them arriving and satisfy all the needs that our strategic partner, i.e. Wizz Air, requires us to do and imposes on us”, said the director of the International Airport Tuzla, Rifat Karasalihovic.

Reconstruction and expansion of the passenger terminal represents an investment that amounts to 4.5 million BAM.

“From that, 50 % will be provided by the International Airport Tuzla through credit funds, while 50 % of the funds we will request from the budget of Canton Tuzla and the FBiH,” added Karasalihovic and emphasized that the reconstruction and expansion of the passenger terminal will not affect the regular functioning of flights.

Besides the transport of passengers, Tuzla airport is currently doing cargo operations.

Cargo traffic has been added again in June this year, and airline Turkish Airlines Cargo is in charge of the transport of food of animal origin. The management of Tuzla Airport signed a contract with that company.

The International Airport Tuzla currently performs the transport of passengers to ten destinations, and six new routes will be established from March next year, which will ultimately make close to 40 weekly flights.
