600_1478337816banja_lukaBy investing seven million BAM, the Banja Luka Airport will increase competitiveness sin the next year and the plan of this enterprise is to become recognizable in BiH and the region by building a cargo center.

Miroslav Janjić, Director of the Banja Luka Airport, said that they are expecting to get more new jobs thanks to this investment and that meat will be exported to Turkey again from this airport.

Deadline for implementation of the investment program of the Banja Luka Airport is October next year and preparations are in progress.

“This project includes the design of a master plan which would define contents for overall developmental period of the Airport, while catering to the needs of the airport and grounded on expertise and practice in this business. There is also the cargo facility which we really need and as such it should represent a unique capacity in BiH, and possibly in the region,” said Janjić.

According to Janjić, the plans include expansion of the airport building in the arrival gate section because the existing situation does not satisfy the needs of the airport, especially when considering the planes that are usually used in passenger transportation, such as Airbus A-319 or A-320. Different equipment will also be procured, including equipment for cargo traffic and equipment that will facilitate the airport operations in conditions of decreased visibility.

When asked if this will influence the return of meat export to this airport, Janjić said that he believes it will.

“We were doing that successfully even with humble capacities. That is a serious operation, in terms of the type of goods transported and in terms of the seriousness of the level on which the entire business is being conducted – the national level,” said Janjić.
