After the strong earthquake that shook our country last night, the epicenter of which was near Zenica, the Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, announced new information. According to his announcement, there were still people injured in the earthquake.

“Unfortunately, four cases of injuries to citizens were reported, one of which was in Jelina, and three citizens reported injuries as a result of falling construction materials from buildings and houses. Two of the injured were kept in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital. Our police and the services of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection are on standby and monitoring the situation on the ground.” Pivic wrote on Facebook.

And the director of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Džavid Aličić, confirmed to Fena news agency that four people were injured and received medical assistance.

One person was injured due to a rock fall on the M-17 highway, at the entrance to the Vranduk tunnel near Zenica, while three people were injured due to material falling from buildings in the city. Two cars were also damaged in the landslide on the M-17 highway, which resulted in a complete stoppage of traffic on this section. Currently, work is being done to remove the material from the road,” says Aličić.

Two people were sent home after receiving help at the Zenica Emergency Service, while the remaining two, one of whom was injured as a result of the landslide, were kept for treatment at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital. Details on the extent of their injuries are not currently available.

In the village of Ljubetovo, near Zenica, tiles from a house and a retaining wall collapsed, resulting in the impoundment of a passenger vehicle.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 13 kilometers north of Zenica, at a depth of nine kilometers.

According to the Center for Seismology of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the magnitude of the earthquake in the hypocenter was 4.8 on the Richter scale, and the intensity in the epicenter was VI degrees on the Mercalli scale. It was felt in the wider area of central Bosnia and Herzegovina, Klix.ba writes.
