Severina detained at the Serbian Border for ’disputable statements’

Croatian singer Severina Vučković was detained on Sunday evening at the border between Croatia and Serbia.

As “Blic” learns, the Serbian police “conducted the usual interrogation procedure, which is applied to all persons whose statements are considered questionable by the state authorities of Serbia.”

After discussions with the competent authorities, Severina was granted entry into Serbia. Nevertheless, the singer decided to return to Croatia on her own initiative, instead of continuing her journey to Serbia.

Severina is the last in a series of public figures whose entry into Serbia was hindered or prohibited due to similar actions. Among those banned from entering Serbia is the singer Selma Bajrami, who was banned by the Serbian authorities from entering the country because she showed the double-headed eagle symbol at a performance.

Sadik Hasanović, the finalist of the “Zvezde Granda” music competition, was banned from entering Serbia because of recordings of him allegedly singing songs with nationalistic content.

Also, the Montenegrin singer Jadranka Barjaktarević was banned from entering Serbia three years ago, after during a political celebration in Montenegro she changed the lyrics of the song and instead of “No one can do anything to us, we are stronger than fate” she sang “No one can do anything to us, stronger we are from Serbia”.

Entry into Serbia is also prohibited for BiH. to the actor Feđa Štukan, after he participated in the “Serbia against violence” protests, Klix.ba writes.
