SFF: Released Jury for the Competition Program – Documentary Film

sffIn the period from the 16th  to 24th  August 2013, will be held the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival.

At this year’s SFF will be the opportunity to watch the largest number of world’s premieres, and also, there was was recently announced the films that will be shown in the Open Air selection.

Another news come from the Directorate of the SFF: Joslyn Barnes, Jasmin Basic and Vibeke Bryld will decide on the best documentary film on the Competition Program, of the 19th  Sarajevo Film Festival.

As below are short biographies of the members of the jury:

Joslyn Barnes, writer and producer (USA)
Joslyn Barnes is a writer and Emmy-nominated producer. She is the author of numerous screenplays for feature films including the upcoming Indian feature THE COSMIC FOREST and the award-winning film BÀTTU, directed by Cheikh Oumar Sissoko (Mali), which she associate produced. Among the films Barnes has executive produced or produced since co-founding Louverture Films are the César-nominated BAMAKO, Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner and Oscar and Emmy nominated TROUBLE THE WATER, Oscar shortlisted SOUNDTRACK FOR A REVOLUTION, Bollywood thriller DUM MAARO DUM, the award-winning BLACK POWER MIXTAPE 1967-1975, Oscar shortlisted, Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner THE HOUSE I LIVE IN, and the Nepali feature HIGHWAY. She associate produced Elia Suleiman’s THE TIME THAT REMAINS, and the 2010 Cannes Palme d’Or winner UNCLE BOONMEE WHO CAN RECALL HIS PAST LIVES by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. She is currently producing THE MESSAGE with Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein, and THE SHADOW WORLD with Johan Grimonprez.

Jasmin Basic Film historian and Curator (Switzerland)
Jasmine Basic has collaborated as coordinator and programmer with several festivals, in Switzerland and abroad: Visions du Réel (Nyon), Cinema Tous Ecrans (Geneva), Split International Film Festival (Croatia), NIFFF (Neuchâtel), Animafest Zagreb (Croatia), International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights – FIFDH (Geneva), Solothurn Film Festival, International Animation Festival Fantoche (Baden).  She has curated retrospectives on Michael Mann, Charles Burnett, David Cronenberg, Michael Snow, Harun Farocki, Atom Egoyan and on the Yugoslav Black Wave, and has developed programmes and events focused on international TV series. She has also collaborated with the Geneva University of Arts & Design (HEAD), the Cinemathèque of Tangier (Morocco), the Centre for the Image La Virreina in Barcelona, the Croatian Audiovisual Center – HAVC, the French Cinémathèque, the Centre Pompidou, the Cahiers du Cinéma and the Forum des Images in Paris.  She was an appointed expert for the Swiss Federal Office of Culture for TV drama and series and a Board Member of the Geneva Film Commission.

Vibeke Bryld Director And Writer (Denmark)
Vibeke Bryld’s last documentary BEDTIME STORIES from the AXIS OF EVIL was nominated for best Danish documentary short by the Danish Film Academy and had its international premiere at Hot Docs 2012. She has a background in Philosophy and Arts from University of Copenhagen and she holds an MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmith’s College, London. Previously she has directed a series of documentaries for Al Jazeera English and produced and portraits of internationally acclaimed artists in New York, London, and Copenhagen and the experimental short THROWING PAINT TINS OFF THE ROOF which was nominated for the New Vision Award at CPH:DOX in 2007. Vibeke has worked for DOX Magazine since 2010 and in February 2013 took over as the editor of DOX, The European Documentary Magazine.
