During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece, Nikos Dendias, the members of the Presidency of BiH expressed their willingness to strengthen mutual relations in areas of common interest.

The interlocutors agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are good, without any open issues, with significant potential for further and stronger development of relations, especially in the economic field, the Presidency of BiH announced.

Members of the BiH Presidency emphasized that BiH has an interest in continuing to improve bilateral, political, and all other relations with the Republic of Greece, and showed gratitude for every form of assistance that the Republic of Greece has provided to BiH so far.

Also, they expressed gratitude to Greece for its continued support to BiH on its path to the EU and said that they expect this support to continue in the future as well. They restated that BiH has a great commitment to EU membership and the implementation of reforms in the European integration process.

The meeting also discussed illegal migration in our area, which is becoming serious security and humanitarian problem. BiH believes that a unique EU approach is the best solution to this problem, and expressed the need to help so BiH could adequately cope with the large and intensified pressure of migration.

Furthermore, they discussed ways to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to ensure a sufficient number of vaccines for countries that are not members of the EU.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece, Nikos Dendias, expressed his satisfaction with the visit to BiH and showed the readiness of Greece to continue improving bilateral relations with our country.

He said that the visits of state and business delegations should be intensified in the following period.

Greece strongly advocates the European perspective of the countries of the Western Balkans and will continue, as he stressed, to point out the importance of EU enlargement.

In the context of solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister Dendias said that Greece would provide financial assistance to three hospitals in BiH, which means 50.000 euros each for the General Hospital “Prim dr. Abdulah Nakas ” in Sarajevo and the University Clinical Center of the RS, and 30.000 euros for the University Clinical Center in Mostar.
