Ahead of Exercise Quick Response 18, General Sir James Everard KCB CBE from the EU Operation Headquarters in Mons, Belgium, visited Sarajevo in his role as the Operation Commander for EUFOR Operation Althea. Commander EUFOR, Major General Martin Dorfer, and his multinational staff briefed the 4 star General on the EUFOR mission and in particular on the preparations for the EUFOR Exercise Quick Response 18.

This annual exercise practices EUFOR’s capability to call in reserve forces to maintain a safe and secure environment in support of local authorities, law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces of BiH.

General Everard during his visit took the opportunity to meet with key military and political figures. He met with Brigadier General Marti Bissel, who commands the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo located next door to the EUFOR Headquarters. With BiH Minister of Defence, Ms Marina Pendes, and Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Mr. Bakir Izetbegovic, General Everard discussed the support EUFOR gives to AFBiH and the BiH authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the population of BiH.
