From March 15, the second wave of the voluntary project of the Federal Ministry of Trade, traders, producers, consumers and trade unions “Locking prices” will start and will last until June 16 of this year.

The list of products with a reduced and locked price has been expanded from 40 to 60 products, the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.

As they announced earlier, the new list also includes products used by celiac and diabetes sufferers.

Namely, at the proposal of the association of these groups, the traders met and lowered the prices for four products for a special diet and locked them in for the next three months.

The project, which started on December 15, 2023, was deemed successful, the ministry said, adding that customers could save about 15 to 20 percent on this basket of products.

The producers assessed that there was a significant increase in interest in the products they included in this basket, and they were also additionally engaged to participate in the continuation of the project.

In the first part of this project, consumers pointed out the problem of insufficiently transparent labeling of products at certain retailers.

Also, an agreement was reached that supermarket and hypermarket commercial facilities within the facility would set aside a corner called “We lock prices” where, in order to make it easier for customers to find their way around, products with locked prices would be in one place, excluding those products that cannot be displayed on the shelf (meat, cream, cheese,…), the press release states.
