Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was wounded in a shooting that took place in front of the House of Culture after the government session.

According to the Slovak media, the shooting happened after Fico left the hall and came among the gathered people.

“The shooting took place in the town of Handlova. Fico was wounded and taken to the hospital. He is in a serious condition,” Slovak media reported.

According to the latest information, Fico was wounded in the stomach and chest, and the attacker allegedly said to him before the attack: “Robo, come here” and that’s when the shooting started.

The parliament session was interrupted after this event, and many politicians reacted, including the president of the country, Zuzana Čaputova.

“I am shocked and strongly condemn the thoughtless attack on the prime minister. I wish Roberto Fico a lot of strength at this critical moment to recover from the attack,” said Čaputova.

According to the Slovak media, several shots were heard near the hall where the session was held.

“I saw that the security guards lifted the prime minister from the ground, put him in the car and drove away,” said the Slovak reporter Dennik N.

For now, the details of this incident are not known, and numerous police forces are on the ground. According to the latest information, the attacker has been arrested, Klix.ba writes.
