Even though it rarely happens, but the snow fell on Wednesday evening in Mostar and stayed on the streets.

The town on Neretva River, used to warm winters and sun, was “surprised” by the snow, which made the youngest one happy, but on the other hands, made the traffic difficult.

Snow in Mostar is usually seen once in two or three years.

Earlier, the weather forecasts announced the snow, and the Civil Protection and Fire Department of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has issued a warning on the upcoming snowfall.

The warning was issued to all municipal civil protection offices, Civil Protection of the City of Mostar and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the HNK.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly cloudy weather will be in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will, by the end of the day, reach the south of the country.

Rain, snow and sleet will fall in the areas located 500 meters above sea level, but only weak snow will fall on Thursday night in Bosnia, with heavy snowfall in northern Herzegovina as well. In the major part of Herzegovina, rain will fall most of the day, says Federal Ministry of Hydrometeorology.

The wind is of moderate strength of north and northwest directions.

“The lowest morning air temperature will vary between -3 and 2 Degrees Celsius, in the south of the country to 5 degrees Celsius. The highest daily air temperature will be between -1 and 5, in the south of the country 6 to 10 degrees Celsius,” the report states.

On Thursday, cloudy weather with snow is expected and cloudy with low snow in northern Herzegovina. Wind of moderate strength, sometimes strong, of northern and northwestern direction.

“The lowest morning air temperature will vary between -9 and -3 ° C, in the south of the country to 1 ° C. The highest daily air temperature will be generally between -6 and -1 ° C, in the south of the country from 2 to 4 ° C,” states the forecast.

On Friday and Saturday, cloudy with low snow on the major territory of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

“The moderate wind of the north and northwest direction, with the lowest morning air temperature between -10 and -4 ° C, in the south of the country to -1 ° C. The highest daily air temperature will be between -6 and -2 ° C, to 4 ° C”,  stated the forecast.
