The appointment of Brčko District Supervisor Louis Crishock as Acting High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a temporary solution, and we expect that the European Union will find a candidate by July 14, when the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) session is scheduled, said the head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Luigi Soreca.
“Ahead of the session of the Council for the Implementation of Peace, which is scheduled for July 14, we expect the European Union to find a candidate on whom everyone will agree, who is European. As for the mandate of the Office of the High Representative (OHR), there are no changes from the EU in terms of our earlier positions on this issue. The Office of the High Representative is not envisaged as a permanent category. We should move in the direction of its closure, provided that the requirements set forth in the agenda are met. As for the Bonn powers, they should be used as a last resort,” emphasized Soreca.
The Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina reminded that accelerated progress on the European path is also the fastest way to shut down OHR.
