Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Denis Zvizdić met today in Berlin with the President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas.

The two officials discussed the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union, as well as the improvement of interparliamentary cooperation.

Zvizdić invited the Bundestag delegation, headed by President Bas, to visit the BiH Parliament and it was agreed in principle that it would be on July 11, 2024.

Zvizdić suggested that, on the occasion of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, a debate be organized in the Bundestag at the beginning of July this year and once again draw attention to the genocide and crimes committed in Srebrenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to call for a firm and lasting peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

The two officials also discussed the consequences of the aggression against Ukraine. Zvizdić said that we in Bosnia and Herzegovina are carefully observing the development of the situation in Ukraine and as a state, we support the Ukrainian people in defense against aggression, as well as its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Zvizdić thanked for the diplomatic efforts and support of the Federal Republic of Germany regarding the granting of candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Bundestag recognizes the importance of BiH and the Western Balkans and provides full support for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Zvizdić said that he hopes that in the coming period, BiH will also have the political and expert support of the Federal Republic of Germany in the process of meeting the obligations from the European agenda.
