The municipal headquarters of Civil Protection Teočak, after an unprecedented storm that hit the area of that municipality on Thursday evening, declared a state of natural disaster.

The water torrent carried everything, and the worst situation was in the local community of Snježnica.

At the time of the storm, one of the locals found himself in the middle of the torrent with his car, but luckily he was unharmed.

“Heavy rain between 21:30 and 22:00 caused torrential waters that caused great material damage in Teocak. It is about the western area of Teočak, the local communities of Sniježnica, Centar, Jasikovac. Road communication Sapna – Teočak was interrupted. The cemetery is directly threatened. The exact number of residential buildings that have been flooded is not yet known. Human lives are not at risk,” said Assistant Chief for Civil Protection Amir Šabackkić.

The damage will only be added up, and the residents of the mentioned settlements have been watching the catastrophic consequences of the unprecedented storm in this area since this morning in disbelief and despair.

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, submitted a request to the procedure to hold an extraordinary session of the Presidency of BiH, at which initial intervention funds would be allocated from the budgetary reserves of the Council of Ministers of BiH for the repair of damage caused by the storm in the Sniježnica settlement, in the area of Teočak Municipality.

”Bearing in mind the enormous material damage caused in the area of the Municipality of Teočak caused by a strong storm, it is necessary that the Council of Ministers of BiH urgently approve initial intervention funds from the Budget of the institutions of BiH and international obligations of BiH for the year 2023 in the amount of 100,000 BAM for the Municipality of Teočak, and with the aim of helping to rehabilitate the damages,” it was stated in the request.

Bećirović proposed that the BiH Presidency instruct the BiH Council of Ministers to allocate initial intervention funds at its session, and he sent the request for the session to the chairperson and member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović and Željko Komšić, the Cabinet of the member of the BiH Presidency announced.
