NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg spoke out regarding the Hungarian Parliament’s decision to ratify Sweden’s entry into NATO and welcomed this act.
In a brief statement on social media X, Stoltenberg said that all allies have now approved this country’s entry into NATO.
“I welcome the decision of the Hungarian Parliament to ratify Sweden’s entry into NATO. Now that all allies have approved entry, Sweden will become the 32nd member of the alliance. Sweden’s membership will make us all stronger and more secure,” Stoltenberg said.
Following Hungary’s decision, it is expected that NATO will confirm Sweden’s entry no later than July when the next major summit is scheduled to take place in Washington.
The document on Sweden’s entry into NATO, ratified by Hungary, will be sent to the United States (U.S.), specifically to the State Department, which will also sign this document and deposit it along with other documents from NATO member countries, Klix.ba writes.
