Stoltenberg: Ukraine has failed to move its front Lines, despite NATO Support

Ukraine has failed to move its front lines in the conflict with Russia over the past year, despite significant support from NATO.

This was stated by the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

At a press conference before the Alliance’s foreign affairs ministers’ meeting in Brussels, he urged NATO not to underestimate Russia’s defense capabilities.

“Even with the huge military support of NATO and allies, they (Ukrainians) have not been able to move the front line and this only shows the fact that we must never underestimate Russia. Their (Russian) arms industry is on a war footing, they are able to supply their forces with ammunition and new capacities,” Stoltenberg said, B92 reports.

Citing an unnamed Ukrainian official, the ABC media service reported that Ukraine is very concerned about the reduction in the supply of ammunition from the US, which could result in the loss of Kyiv’s position on the battlefield.

The report said US shipments of NATO-standard shells to Ukraine had dropped by more than 30 percent since the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip early last month, as US supplies originally intended for Kyiv’s were diverted to Israel.

Western countries increased their military and financial support to Ukraine after the beginning of the Russian invasion of that country, while they imposed several rounds of sanctions on Russia.
