Submerged Planes at the Airport in Australia, a Crocodile Swimming in the Middle of a Town

”This is the worst natural disaster I can remember. The roads are blocked and we can’t even get help from the air, ” told Prime Minister Steven Miles.

North Queensland in Australia has been hit by the worst flooding ever – due to extreme weather conditions, caused by a tropical cyclone, in some areas the annual amount of rain has fallen, forcing many places to be evacuated.

Airplanes were sunk at Cairns airport, and in the very center of the town of Ingham, from which people are fleeing in boats, a crocodile was also seen!

Many houses and roads are flooded, there is no electricity, drinking water is becoming scarcer, and a group of nine people, including a sick child, had to spend the night on the roof of a hospital after emergency teams failed to reach them. Fortunately, everyone was moved to safety on Monday, but due to the seriousness of the situation on the ground, it was decided to evacuate the entire town.

So far, there are no reports of deaths or missing persons, and intense rainfall is expected for the next 24 hours, the BBC reported yesterday.

”This is the worst natural disaster I can remember. Now our biggest concern is to place all the captives safely. Many roads are blocked, and we can’t even get help from the air,” said the Premier of Queensland, Steven Miles.

Forecasters said the heavy rain would continue for much of Monday and coincide with high tide, intensifying the impact on low-lying communities.

Although the weather is expected to calm down today, the water level of the rivers has yet to reach their peak and they will be swollen for days to come. Several rivers are expected to break records set during the massive flood of 1977. Thus, the Daintree River has already exceeded the previous record by 2 meters, after 820 mm of rain fell in 24 hours.

Government officials estimate that the disaster will cost them more than one billion Australian dollars, N1 reports.
