Summer Tourist Season in BiH is approaching its Peak

The summer tourist season in Bosnia and Herzegovina is approaching its peak, and Neum is attracting a large number of domestic and foreign guests this year. The only Bosnian city on the Adriatic coast has a special rhythm during the summer, from full beaches and terraces to evening events. The tourist offer has been increasing in recent years, and the focus is also on promoting the bay.

High temperatures and summer vacations have once again brought many people to Neum. The sea is, as expected, one of the main reasons for coming, and on the beaches these days you can meet guests from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as abroad.

NIKOLA PRKAČIN, Director of the Neum Municipality Tourist Board

“Currently, during this period, most tourists come to us from Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than half are tourists from Western European countries: France, Poland and other European Union countries. And by the way, if we look at the structure of guests on a year-round basis, there is a slight preponderance on the side of foreign guests.”

Neum is located between the sea and the steep slopes of Herzegovina, and it is precisely this combination of the coast and the karst landscape that gives it a recognizable appearance. Neum is also an important traffic destination in the south of the country, through which numerous travelers pass during the summer months towards the Croatian coast and the rest of Herzegovina.

NIKOLA PRKAČIN, Director of the Neum Municipality Tourist Board

“We, the Neum Municipality Tourist Board and the Municipality, are constantly working to increase the offer. Thus, the focus of our activities in the coming years will be precisely the promotion of the hinterland, which offers a great opportunity to extend the season. This year, for the second time, we are organizing the event ‘Olive Harvest Day’, where our goal is to introduce our guests to the gastronomy and rich history of our hinterland.”

Although it is a small municipality, Neum has a long tourist tradition. The development of the hotel and catering offer began in the second half of the last century, and today, along with modern facilities, traces of the past can be found, from traditional architecture to sacral and archaeological sites in the area.

The tourist offer does not end with sunset. During the summer, concerts, cultural and entertainment events are organized, so life in Neum continues even after a day spent on the beach.
