More than 70 activists gathered in front of the mall Importanne in Sarajevo to pay the tribute to the victims of the shooting in Orlando.
Activists gathered to express solidarity with all victims of terrorist attacks that are happening in the world, and especially for the victims of the last terrorist and homophobic attack in Orlando (USA), which took 50 lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons and in which more than 50 people got wounded.
“We cannot selectively look at the victims, we must not allow that some victims are more important than the others, because all the victims are victims. I say this because a lot of homophobic comments on the Internet has been noticed, as well as around us who welcome this terrible act just because they happened to LGBTI people. This is terrible, what kind of society we are when we support the mass killing of innocent people just because they love the same sex,” said one of the activists, Lejla Huremovic.
She added that the aim of the gathering is to send a message that we can do better as a society and to expres the faith that there are a number of people who will loudly condemn any form of violence.
“Any attack on a person on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or sexual characteristics must be treated as a hate crime and there must be a legal sanction for it,” said Huremovic.
To recall, on Saturday after midnight in a gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando happened the largest mass shooting in the history of the United States, where 50 persons was killed and 53 people were wounded.
Terrorist organization ISIL took the responsibility for the shooting in Orlando.
