The U.S. President Barack Obama likes to say that the White House is “the house of all people”. Architectural Digest published exclusive photographs which give the insight into the private premises on the second floor of the White House where Obama, his wife Michelle, daughters Malia and Sasha and dogs Bo and Sunny have been staying for almost eight years.

Interior designer Michael Smith said that the First Lady of the USA manages to maintain the taste of her family while respecting the history of the White House.

“Above all, family atmosphere can really be felt in the White House,” Smith said.

The photographs also show the Oval Office where Obama stays until long in the evening to read the informative material for the next day.

Rooms are decorated with different modern and contemporary details borrowed from the main artistic institutions such as the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Museum.

Architectural Digest also published photographs of private premises of presidents John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Amy Astley, editor-in-chief of the magazine, said that Obama’s personal style is reflected in his art. All in beige colors, the main bedroom has an antique bed with canopy and Italian linens, and Smith called the bedroom “a refuge”.
