With the adoption of amendments to the Rulebook on the implementation of the VAT Law and the accompanying Technical Instructions, all obstacles to the exemption of food donations from VAT have been removed and the way has been opened for the start of implementation.
These amendments are the result of a major campaign launched by the Mozaik Foundation in cooperation with partner organizations and with the support of the United States (U.S.)Government through USAID, with the aim of improving legislation on philanthropy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“The beginning of the implementation of the new regulation represents a significant step, which shows the readiness of political representatives from all over BiH to act constructively and in the best interest of all BiH citizens,” USAID said.
“After the USAID initiative ‘No one hungry. No one alone.’ overcame political obstacles, the next important step was the amendment of the Rulebook and the accompanying Technical Instructions that will specify the application of the law. The Indirect Taxation Auhority (ITA) proved to be a constructive partner throughout this process, and the Assistant Director in the Tax Department of the BiH ITA Muharem Masinovic and the head of the Department for Audit and Control, Sedin Mesinovic, did an important job on the way to the adoption of simple and extremely practical by-laws”, said the Mozaik Foundation, which, together with partner organizations and with the support of the U.S. Government, initiated a major campaign to improve legal philanthropy framework in BiH.
This laid the foundations for companies that have so far shown a willingness to donate food to people in need, now do so more and more easily, Klix.ba reports.
