Numerous members of victims’ families and associations, citizens and representatives of the authorities today, by gathering at the place of suffering, marked the 29th anniversary of the massacre in which six children were killed during a game in Bosanska street at number 4, in the “C” phase of Sarajevo’s Alipašino Polje neighborhood.

On that fateful day, January 22, 1994, at around 1:40 p.m., three mortar shells were fired from enemy positions located in the area of the Nedžarići settlement, which fell and exploded in the Alipašino Polje settlement. The explosive effect of those shells killed six and injured the same number of minors.

“Sisters Indira Brković (born in 1982) and Jasmina Brković (born in 1989), as well as Mirza Dedović (1986), Danijel Jurenić (1983), Nermin Rizvanović (1981) and Admir Subašić (1985) were killed on that occasion,” it is stated.

The delegation of Sarajevo Canton, at today’s celebration, was translated by Adnan Medić, Assistant Minister for Environmental Protection in the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environment.

In his address to those present, among other things, he said that we must not and will not forget the monstrous crimes, the evil that a normal person cannot comprehend.

“But despite such a past, our future must be built on the equality of all peoples and citizens. We must persist in the ideas on which Bosnia and Herzegovina can and must survive, namely the idea of coexistence, mutual respect and tolerance. And for that to happen, justice must be served and the perpetrators of terrible crimes, including the one we are commemorating today, must be adequately punished,” said Medić.

As stated in the press release by the Canton Sarajevo Protocol and Press Service, in addition to the CS delegation, families of those killed also laid flowers at the massacre site, delegations from the Association of Parents of Killed Children of the Siege of Sarajevo 1992-1995, the Union of Civil War Victims of the KS, the City of Sarajevo, and the Municipality of Novi Grad.
