The Baščaršija Nights opened with a Concert of Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra

The Festival ‘’Baščaršija Nights’’, which is to last until July 31^st, was opened last night in the City Hall with a solemn concert of the Sarajevo Philharmonics entitled ‘’Greetings from Austria’’.

The Austrian Embassy in B&H supported the concert of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, with which the soloist Brigitta Simon and Uwe Theimer also performed. On the program were, among others, the works of the compositors Franz von Suppe, Johann Strauss, Karl Komzák, Franz Lehar and Robert Stolz.

This year’s 20th edition of the festival will offer 29 programs in different areas of artistic creation to the lovers of cultural events.

Of the rich festival program, what stands out is the concert Kolektif Istanbul, which is to be performed on July 5^th thanks to the cooperation with the Embassy of Turkey and the Yunus Emre Institute. The audience will have an opportunity to enjoy the blend of traditional folk and pop music and funk and jazz as well.

After 20 years, the comedy ‘’Buba u uhu’’ (‘’Flea in the Ear’’) directed by Admir Glamočak will be performed, and the premiere of the (non) stand-up comedy of the actor Haris Burina will be held on July 26^th at the scene of the Chamber Theater 55.

The stand-up comedy “Đurologija” by Branko Đuric will be performed on July 18^th at the Bosnian Cultural Center in two terms.

The participants at the literary evenings during this festival will be Vlado Kreslin, Hasija Borić, Mile Stojić, Ahmed Burić, Faruk Šehić, Goran Samardžić and the members of the Small Theater Academy.

There will also be a concert ‘’Sarajevo Big Band’’, at which Saša Lošić, Sejo Sexon, Dražen Žerić, Elvis J Kurtović and Željka Katavić will perform on July 7^th at the Bosnian Cultural Center. The groups Konvoj, Erogene zone, Zabranjeno pušenje and Regina will hold concerts at the plateau in front of the BBI Center.

The festival will also mark the 17^th International Folklore Festival ‘’Sarajevo 2015’’, at which the ensembles from Columbia, Northern Cyprus, Slovakia and B&H will perform on July 4^th.
