Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) carried out searches of residential and catering establishments, other premises and movable property in three locations as part of the “Rio” operation in the area of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The searches were carried out due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the crimes “organized crime” and “unauthorized traffic in narcotic drugs” prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina were committed.

Two persons were deprived of their liberty and taken to SIPA premises for criminal processing and questioning as suspects.

During the search, 16 kilograms of the narcotic drug marijuana, 20,450 euros, 1,600 BAM, 2,500 Swiss francs, two passenger motor vehicles and other items that can serve as evidence that the above crimes were committed were discovered and temporarily confiscated, SIPA points out.

The searches were carried out on the basis of the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Operational action “Buna” broke the chain of international smuggling of narcotic drugs from the territory of Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, according to the available information, existed for a long period of time.
