The Committee for Economic and Financial Policy of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously reached the conclusion that it accepts the Proposal of the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2023 under the urgent procedure and proposes it to go to further parliamentary procedure.

The Committee President Admir Čavalic said at the press conference that this gives us a hint of the outcome next Wednesday and the vote on the budget when it comes to the parliamentary procedure.

The Committee also adopted a conclusion that refers to the recommendation to the FBiH Government and the Parliament,  that in the future it does not pass budget proposals in the emergency procedure, that this practice should be stopped, but that it should go to the regular parliamentary procedure.

“Unfortunately, due to the impossibility of a public debate on the budget, the public and the taxpayers have been deprived of that right, but also all citizens of the FBiH, and various associations,” stated Čavalić.

He says that they, as parliamentarians, are denied to participate in that wider public discussion and to better model the budget.

He noted that the FBiH Budget Proposal for 2023 was submitted to the FBiH Parliament at the end of last year, under an urgent procedure.

“We will propose the amendments on Wednesday,” said Čavalić.

The Committee for Economic and Financial Policy also reached a conclusion regarding the distribution of 200 million BAM, which goes regularly to the cantons, that the future government or this government in technical mandate adhere to the criteria of the census from 2013, i.e. the number of inhabitants, that the cantons continue to receive funds by number inhabitants according to the 2013 census.
