A meeting was held in the operational office of Public Utility Company (JP) Autoceste of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) on the topic of the dynamics of creating project documentation for the construction of sections exiting the Prenj tunnel – Mostar north and Ovcari – entering the Prenj tunnel, as part of Corridor 5C.

On this occasion, conceptual projects that are in the final stage were presented. (The Prenj Tunnel with a length of over 10 kilometers is the most complex project on Corridor 5C).

The process of building the highway from the southern part of Mostar to the north is of key importance for the FBiH, i.e. the entire route of Corridor 5C, for several reasons, starting from economic to construction.

Both of these sections are located in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The projects are of great importance for the development of local communities, which will enable faster, safer and more comfortable traffic.

Exit from the tunnel Prenj – Mostar north

The route starts after exiting the Prenj tunnel and continues in the direction of Mostar, where it ends with the Mostar north interchange. The total length of the section is 12.34 km. The height difference from the beginning to the end is about 439 m.

Ovcari – entrance to the Prenj tunnel

The route starts at the Ovcari interchange just before the town of Konjic and after crossing the M-17 highway, it continues through two tunnels towards the settlement of Bijela and further towards the Prenj mountain and tunnel. The total length of the section is 10.32 km.

This is one of the most difficult sections of the highway on Corridor 5C.

In addition to this, the preparation of documentation for the southern connection of the city of Konjic to the main road M-17 in a total length of L=3.54km with two bridges M1 L=380m and M2 L=70m and a tunnel with a length of L=820m is envisaged.

The development of project documentation is funded by a grant from the European Commission, and the company AIK d.o.o. Banovici was chosen as the designer, Biznis Info reports.
